People who are experimenting with Law of Attraction often get into affirmations. These are just “mantras” of sorts that we use to self-induce a state of vibration that can facilitate attracting what we want. The idea is to use a sentence like: “I HAVE 1 MILLION DOLLARS” in the hopes that money will flow into our lives.

(Note that this is a basic explanation just to have a notion or description of what it is)

If you are using any variation of these and they work for you, that’s great. Keep doing it. But if they seem not to be working or it’s not having the desired effect, you might want to read this article.

Positive vs Negative Affirmations

When we use affirmations, we are stating a certain perspective for our reality to be shaped in a certain way. We are trying to get more of something: more money, more love, more… you name it.

These affirmations should follow certain guidelines:

  • Always in present tense (so you can express it as already possessing it)
  • Always in positive form (so you are not fighting AGAINST something but FAVORING the desired outcome)
  • Stating what we really want, not a sub-product of it (this is why money can be tricky, if we want a new home but we believe that we have to manifest money in order to get the house, it can get in the way of manifesting both money and the house).

However, my experience tells me that many people encounter some problems with it that can end up in frustration and delaying our manifestations.

Some people use affirmations in a negative way, even unconsciously. So try to be as positive as you can by using this article to “clear the path” for your desires to show up in reality.

What to do if blocked?

If you are too attached to the outcome, you might be getting in your own way. “I WANT 1 MILLION DOLLARS” might actually mean “I DON’T HAVE 1 MILLION DOLLARS AND I WISH THAT I HAD IT”.

If we are too anguished and needy, the vibration that we are putting out with our affirmations might be one of scarcity. So, you need to be always radiant, exultant and happy, no matter how “inefficient” your affirmations might seem to you. If you are not experiencing any positive feelings, and you are rather feeling stuck and lacking motivation, I assure you that affirmations won’t bring any results.

EVERYTHING comes down to perception and how you CHOOSE to see things. If you are very convinced that the world is a static thing “out there”, if you believe it as hostile and people are out to get you… well, that’s a very unlikely environment to manifest a happy life, don’t you think?

Many beliefs can be blocking your path, and the only thing that you have to do is to gently dismiss those thoughts and beliefs. Do NOT dwell on any negative thoughts, you just need to put them aside, as if they were annoying mosquitoes. No need to rationally dissolve them, if you think that you “are a loser”, you don’t need to find reasons to dismiss that thought. Instead, just try to feel like a winner, feel good about yourself regardless of any perceived evidence that tells you otherwise.

Key point: Thoughts can be deceiving, but some people believe that they produce them, and believe in whatever they narrate. Practice detachment from your thoughts, this will reveal that they are NOT TRUE (not false either, they are just stories), and you will be free from their mind control.

They are NOT Working YET!!

Affirmations are just a technique to bring about thoughts that you want to have. We manifest what we think about, but if those things have been resisting us for a while, maybe it is time to change our technique.

Remember that affirmations are not magic words that summon arcane powers. Affirmations are just a way to be more aware of what you want. If you are stuck in past experiences or you are holding negative beliefs about certain things, affirmations will only bring about those feelings, and thus the vibration that you will be putting out will be one of repelling the very thing that you are trying to attract.

If you are WAITING for something, chances are that you have beliefs about it having to come but not being here yet. So you have to turn that around, you want to FEEL IT as already having it, that’s the purpose. Waiting mode is a symptom that you are resisting it.

You need to have a strong foundation first, and make sure that you are feeling positive and empowered. That is your compass that will tell you how aligned you are.

KEY POINT: Remember that you attract MORE of what you are. So if you are trying to attract more money, but you ARE coming from a scarcity mindset, always trying to SAVE money, always avoiding SPENDING TOO MUCH, it is like trying to seduce a top model in your pajamas: it might work, but it is VERY unlikely.

If you really want to manifest something, you have to own it first. There is no getting something that you have never seen or experienced. So here’s a few examples that might help you get out of your comfort zone and start producing some results:

  • If you want MONEY, start spending more money. If you feel stressed or anxious, that’s your block. You are holding SCARCITY where you should feel ABUNDANT. You need to find ways to LET GO and spend money while KNOWING that you have plenty and it won’t run out.
  • If you want LOVE, you need to love yourself and feel ATTRACTIVE. If you feel unworthy of other people’s love, or you believe that there is little in you for others to appreciate, affirmations might be just a way of deluding yourself about this.

What do you want? You attract WHAT YOU ARE already. So whatever you want, HAVE IT, BE IT. Right now. It is easy, you do not need to wait.

    I totally agree! I see that I’ve been manifesting the “want” not stating what I am. So, how often would you practice an affirmation? I’m using an app on my phone, what do you use?
